New album online: "Het Oude Kerkhof"
One of the oldest municipal cemeteries in the Netherlands, which was put into use in 1785. Hardly anywhere else in the Netherlands is the separation between the Catholic section, the Protestant section and the two Jewish sections so clearly visible.
World famous is ‘The grave with the hands’. In fact, it concerns two grave monuments, in which the mutual love between a Roman Catholic woman and a Protestant man after death is expressed in a very creative way. Across the dividing wall between the Catholic and Protestant sections of the cemetery, they symbolically reach out to each other.
